Clutch problems?
Here is what happened to mine that you don't hear about too often
My clutch fork arm broke. The 84 and 85 Fieros used a stamped steel clutch fork arm (cfa.) This will make it seem like the clutch hydraulics are out. What happened to me is my clutch peal stuck to the floor one night. I thought that the clutch blew up because I had been to a drag race that night. After much tinkering I decided that my clutch pedal was just bent because the early Fieros used a aluminum clutch pedal and it was. However, after replacing it with a steal one from the junk yard the clutch would not disengage. I had a friend push in the clutch while I watched. I noticed that the slave cylinder rod was not pushing the clutch arm fork. So I ordered a whole new system. Banjo arm, master, cfa, and slave cylinder. I installed the cylinders and cfa. When I took the old cfa off it came off in two pieces. Cool I found the problem. So what happened? When I pushed the cutch in the slave cylinder hyper extended into an area that it hadn't traveled to in 18 years and it stuck. That is why the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. I replaced the master and slave cylinders without need. However, everyone says that the after market ones are trash and I have not had problems with mine in the 3 months that it was driven on. If I do have problems with it I will rebuild the old ones and see if I have any luck. So remember if you are having clutch problems check the cfa. Just grab a hold and try to move it back and forth, if you can move it more than a mm or two you have a problem. There are some heat shields that you need to take off but it is pretty straight forward. Good luck!
