Repairing the Seat Belt Holder
This is an easy project. It will keep you seat belt holder tight against the seat. There are three problem areas. First, is the hook as seen in the center. Second, is the bottom back screw hole. Third, is the bottom front screw hole. As you can see in the picture above, this cover had two problems, the hook was broken off and the screw hole was broken out.
Tools:
short #2 Phillips screwdriver
13mm socket
1/4 inch ratchet
Supplies:
Small piece of metal
JB weld or other strong epoxy
You may have to take the seat out to get the seat belt holder off. I took the driver's seat out because I wanted to clean under it. I got the passenger side off without taking the seat out. To get the seat you need to move it all the way up and take the two bolts out then move it all the way back and take the two bolts out. Before you try to take the seat out disconnect the seat speakers if you have them. Now with the seats out take the seat belt holder off, by taking the two screws out and slipping the hook out of it's place. Now you need a small piece of metal. Mine was about 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch wide. It needs to fit between the two stiffening braces in the back. You'll see them. I slide my piece of metal in the and drew a line with a pencil. I put the piece of metal into the vice and bent it into an L. Using a hammer to just bend in over. You might be able to use two pliers, but I didn't try. I then cleaned the surface of the plastic and metal with alcohol. I scuffed up the surfaces with a nail and mixed up the JB weld. I put a layer of JB on the metal and on the plastic and put them together. I then filled in around the metal to give it some support.
To fix the screw hole I just filled it in with JB and drilled a hole through it. I hope it holds up. Fortunately, JB is just about the same color as the gray interior. Also the screw hole are virtually impossible to see unless you get on your hands and knees.
